The best has yet to come for Jerwin Ancajas

Jerwin Ancajas (27-1-1, 18KO) made the most out of his biggest opportunity to date in Brisbane last July 2.

The 25-year old champion announced his presence to the world stage after his scintillating performance against Teiru Kinoshita, stopping the number three-ranked Japanese in seven rounds to retain the IBF World Super Flyweight belt.

Ancajas knew that a lot was at stake during that fight more than retaining his belt. But he did not let the pressure take over him as it was the moment he and his team have been waiting for all these years.

Like most boxers in the country, Ancajas and his team had a hard time to sustain the profession he chose. He had to teach boxing classes and training in makeshift boxing rings just to make ends meet.

Definitely it was survival for them and like in his fights, he rolled with everything life threw at them and struck back in every opening. After every fight, he eventually started to gain the fight fan’s attention with his rapid combinations.

Now reaping the fruits of their hard work and perseverance, the team believes that this is just the beginning of their journey.

For his part, Ancajas knows that the challenges are only about to get harder. As their dream to finally fight in the US against the big names continues to open up with every win, the team hopes for nothing but the best.FILE PHOTO - Jerwin Ancajas

“Sa ngayon sir wala pang plano (pero) sana sa US na,” shared Ancajas’ coach Joven Jimenez shares as he expect a sit down with management about their next step.

“Aalamin ko next week. Paguusapan pa namin nila Sir Sean (Gibbons), Sir Joe (Ramos) at Sir Manny (Pacquiao).”

As for Ancanjas, expect only the best from Cavite’s “Pretty Boy” by the time of his next defense.

Sa ensayo, ensayo talaga,” he furthered.
